Triggers & Actions
8 min read
Understanding automation triggers and actions to build powerful automated workflows.
Available Triggers
Triggers start your automation workflows:
- Form Submitted - When someone fills out a form
- Page Visited - When specific page is viewed
- Tag Added - When contact receives a tag
- Product Purchased - After successful payment
- Email Opened - When email is opened
- Link Clicked - When link in email is clicked
- Date/Time - On specific date or schedule
Available Actions
Actions are what happen when a trigger fires:
- Send Email - Deliver an email
- Send SMS - Send text message
- Add/Remove Tag - Update contact tags
- Update Field - Change contact data
- Subscribe/Unsubscribe - Manage lists
- Create Task - Add task for your team
- Webhook - Send data to external system
- Wait - Delay before next action
Conditional Logic
Use conditions to create branching workflows:
- If contact has tag X → Send email A, Else → Send email B
- If purchase amount > $100 → Add to VIP list
- If email opened → Wait 2 days, Else → Send reminder
🎯 Best Practice
Combine triggers and actions strategically. Don't overwhelm contacts with too many emails - use conditions to segment and personalize!
